Creating Sub Arenas

Modified on Fri, 27 Apr 2018 at 01:10 PM

As seen in the support article for setting up your various event areas, you must create your facility's event areas before you can schedule anything within the system. However, often times, you may need to break down your event areas in multiple subsections. For example, let's say that you have your primary ice rink and it's typically used for full-ice games, events or practices. But, occasionally you may rent half the ice or split the ice up for cross-ice games, learn to skate programs, etc.

In order to accommodate this need, you can create sub arenas within each scheduled location at the rink in the case that you may be scheduling multiple items at the same time on the same sheet of ice, court or field.

Step 1

Go to Management->Sport/event areas from the top menu

Step 2

You will be presented with a list of all available arenas for your business.  Click on the Create New Arena at the top left, or choose to edit one of your existing available arenas by clicking the "Options" button next to any previously created locations.

Step 3

On this page, you'll see the same options, whether you're creating a new arena or editing an existing arena.

1) Area Name: This is required and identifies the arena. This name must be unique
2) Location: Informational purposes identifying where the arena is located. Since you can define a home arena for a team, this may be useful to fill in.
3) Area Capacity: Informational purposes stating the capacity of the arena
4) Viewable by the public: Value defaults to Yes. If you would like the complete schedule of this arena hidden to all your customers, set this value to No.
5) Allowable Events: Choose which sports and events are allowed. If you would like to schedule a particular sport on this arena, the sport must be checked here.

Step 4

In order to create a new subsection of a facility area, type the name that you'd like to call the individual subsection under "Subdivision Name," and then choose what area it's a subdivision of from the dropdown. By leaving it as the defaulted "----------" it will fall directly under the primary facility area. However, if you need to split the field or rink into multiple levels of subsections, you can choose one of the previously created subdivisions to create a subsection of an existing subsection. For more clarification, check out the diagram below!

In the above diagram, your event area would be called, "Full Field."

Your primary subdivisions would be Field 1 and Field 2.

Field A and Field B would be subdivisions of Field 1, and Field C and Field D would be subdivisions of Field 2.

Step 5

In order to activate or deactivate certain subdivisions, just click the icon to the left of the subdivision name. By clicking the red "X," you can deactivate an active subdivision. By clicking the check box next to a deactivated subdivision, you can reactivate that location for your schedule.
